If you’re an older person with Support at Home funding, you can use it for allied health that helps you stay strong, safe and independent at home. Adelaide Wellbeing Society offers Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology, including OT assessments and assistive technology prescription for items such as wheelchairs, mobility scooters, shower chairs and beds, and recommendations for minor home modifications.

Please note: we’re not a registered Support at Home provider. We work with you through your own Support at Home provider, who arranges, approves and pays for our services from your Support at Home budget.

We see clients at our all-abilities, wheelchair accessible clinic in Salisbury Plain, in your home, and in the pool at the Parafield Gardens Swim School for hydrotherapy.

What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is the Australian Government’s in-home aged care program. It replaced the Home Care Packages Program and the Short-Term Restorative Care Programme on 1 November 2025. You access it through My Aged Care after an aged care assessment.

Allied health and therapy is one of the services available under Support at Home. It includes exercise physiology, occupational therapy and speech pathology. Support at Home also has short-term pathways, including the Restorative Care Pathway, which offers short-term, coordinated allied health and/or nursing support to help you regain function and independence, and the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme, which funds products, equipment and home adjustments to meet your assessed needs.

Who we help

How our services can support you at home

Exercise Physiology

Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists create personalised exercise programs to help you stay active and confident.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists help you manage everyday tasks and stay independent in your own home.

Assistive technology and home modifications

Our occupational therapists provide OT assessments and assistive technology (AT) prescription, so you get equipment that suits your needs, your body and your home. This includes:

We also assess your home and make recommendations for minor home modifications, such as grab rails or ramps. We assess and prescribe, but we don’t supply or sell equipment. Your Support at Home provider can explain how equipment and modifications are funded, including through the AT-HM scheme.

Speech Pathology

Our speech pathologists support communication and swallowing, for example after a stroke or with a neurological condition, at the clinic or at home.

How it works with your Support at Home provider

  1. Talk to your provider. Contact your Support at Home provider or care partner and say you’d like exercise physiology, occupational therapy or speech pathology with Adelaide Wellbeing Society.
  2. Your provider checks and approves. They’ll check the service fits your assessed needs, support plan and budget.
  3. Your provider refers you to us. They can use our referral form, or you or your provider can call us.
  4. We book your first appointment. We’ll arrange a time at the clinic, at home or at the pool, whichever suits your needs.
  5. We work towards your goals. Your therapist assesses you, sets goals with you and keeps your provider updated, with your consent. Your provider pays for the services from your budget.

Is your provider not yet working with us?

If your Support at Home funding is managed by a provider, they may already have a list of allied health services they work with. If Adelaide Wellbeing Society isn’t on that list yet, that’s no problem. With your permission, we’ll contact your provider, share our details and arrange what’s needed so we can deliver your services.

Simply get in touch or call 0493 278 487 and let us know who your provider is. We’ll take care of the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Are you a registered Support at Home provider?

No. Adelaide Wellbeing Society isn’t a registered Support at Home provider. We work with older people who have Support at Home funding through their own Support at Home provider, who arranges, approves and pays for our services from your budget.

How do I use my Support at Home funding for your services?

Talk to your Support at Home provider or care partner and ask for exercise physiology, occupational therapy or speech pathology with Adelaide Wellbeing Society. If it fits your assessed needs and budget, your provider will arrange the service with us and we’ll book your first appointment.

Can your occupational therapists help with equipment like a wheelchair, shower chair or bed?

Yes. Our occupational therapists provide OT assessments and assistive technology prescription for items such as wheelchairs, mobility scooters, toilet raisers, shower chairs, recliners and beds, as well as assessments and recommendations for minor home modifications. We don’t supply or sell equipment. Your provider can explain how equipment and modifications are funded, including through the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme.

Will I have to pay a contribution?

Under Support at Home, contributions depend on the type of service and your income and assets. My Aged Care advises that you won’t contribute to clinical support costs. Your provider can explain any contributions that apply to you.

Can I have hydrotherapy?

Yes, if it’s right for you and your provider approves it. Hydrotherapy is held at the Parafield Gardens Swim School, 1:1 with one of our Exercise Physiologists.

I had a Home Care Package. Does this still apply to me?

Yes. Home Care Packages moved to Support at Home on 1 November 2025. Your provider can explain how your budget works now and whether our services can be included.
