Recovering from an injury and getting back to work can take time. Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists design graded, work-focused exercise programs to help you rebuild strength, mobility and confidence for the tasks your job involves. We see clients at our all abilities rehabilitation facility in Salisbury Plain, at work or at home.
Why exercise matters after an injury
After an injury, it’s common to lose strength, fitness and confidence in moving. A supervised program, matched to your injury and stage of recovery, helps you increase what you can do safely and step by step. Your Exercise Physiologist will also teach you how to manage flare-ups and keep going on your own.
A program built around your job
We look at what your work actually involves, such as lifting, carrying, standing, bending, reaching, driving or shift work, and build exercises that prepare you for those tasks.
- an initial assessment of your injury, movement, strength and work demands
- clear, practical goals agreed with you
- a graded exercise program in our private gym, with home exercises between sessions
- regular reviews, so your program progresses as you do
Injuries we work with
We work with clients with shoulder, knee and back injuries all the way through to amputations, brain injuries and wheelchair users, as well as people recovering after surgery or living with persistent pain.
Working with your doctor, employer and case manager
With your consent, we keep your treating doctor, your employer or return to work coordinator, and your case manager informed of your progress, so everyone is working towards the same plan.
Funding options
- WorkCover: we see workers with a ReturnToWorkSA claim. Once your claim is accepted and treatment is approved, we invoice your claims agent or self-insured employer in line with the ReturnToWorkSA fee schedule. More about WorkCover.
- CTP and Lifetime Support Scheme: for motor vehicle injuries, we’ll liaise with your insurer or case manager.
- Income protection or personal injury insurance: we can assist with documentation and liaise with your insurer.
- Private health insurance: most funds include Exercise Physiology under extras cover. Check with your fund.
- Self-funded: no referral needed.
Frequently asked questions
When should I start exercise after a work injury?
It depends on your injury and your doctor’s advice. Your Exercise Physiologist will assess where you’re at and start at a level that’s safe for you, then build up gradually.
Will you talk to my employer?
With your consent, yes. We can talk with your employer or return to work coordinator about your progress and the tasks you’re building towards.
Can I keep working while I do rehab?
Many people continue working, sometimes on modified duties, while they do their program. We’ll plan your sessions around your work and your doctor’s advice.
What if my pain flares up?
Flare-ups can happen during recovery. Your Exercise Physiologist will adjust your program and teach you strategies to manage them.
How long does a program last?
It depends on your injury, your goals and your funding. Your program is reviewed regularly, and progress is shared with your treating team with your consent.
Do I need a referral?
For WorkCover, your claims manager needs to approve treatment, and we can check this for you. For CTP or other insurance, we’ll liaise with your insurer. If you’re paying privately or claiming through private health, you don’t need a referral.
We don’t provide physiotherapy or psychology. We’re happy to work alongside your physiotherapist, psychologist and GP.
